Concerts for Shoes
The Concerts for Shoes Programme is now in its 23rd year. Over this period, we have raised more than £110,000 which has enabled us to provide a new pair of shoes for up to 250 children in Odessa each year. This need goes on and its necessity is never ending.
Originally, we provided shoes for 60 children when we began the Shoe Programme. There are still, in the former Soviet Union, thousands of children living on the streets who live in appalling conditions. The Tikva home in Odessa expanded to take in more children; now they care for more than 350 children giving them a home and a future.
Recently, the Tikva Orphanage in Odessa, was one of the highlights of a BBUK visit to Ukraine. Seeing the children at work and play and meeting the staff to hear about the work of Tikva was truly inspiring, making all our efforts in supporting them so worthwhile.
However, the crisis in the Ukraine continues. Funds are needed more than ever now. By coming along and enjoying the music, you will help provide our homeless children in the Ukraine with new shoes; it being so essential for a child’s development.
Our enjoyment becomes shoes for a destitute child.
